Between the strong and the weak, it is freedom that oppresses and the law that sets free.11 Henri Lacordaire: « Entre le fort et le faible, entre le riche et le pauvre, entre le maître et le serviteur, c'est la liberté qui opprime et la loi qui affranchit. »
Deregulation is everywhere on LinkedIn. Many praise it as a victory for freedom. But freedom for whom?
When powerful corporations push for fewer rules, they aren’t looking for fair competition. They want freedom from accountability. They want freedom to dominate markets. They want freedom to shift risks onto others.
Some laws are inefficient. That’s not an argument for removing protections. The goal should be to make better laws, not erase them.
Deregulation is not about leveling the playing field. It’s about tilting it even further.
